Rain Gardens United is excited to share a very successful natural infrastructure project! In 2020 they co-signed a winning PollinateTO application with the Greenwood Park Pollinators and the results were even better than they had imagined! Not only did volunteers solve the problem of ponding water on a residential property, but they worked with neighbours to establish six additional rain gardens in parallel boulevards on the street.

Their efforts added 150 native plants to the neighbourhood, as well as compost, fresh soil, and shredded mulch which all contribute to creating the desired absorbent landscape – allowing rain and melting snow to seep down into the water table instead of pooling on the surface. As Rain Gardens United’s Marc Yamaguchi says, “The result is amazing!”
